Rangers star snapped heading to Prague as he eyes Sparta start

Rangers star Scott Wright was snapped heading out to the Czech Republic as the attacker eyes a recall to the starting XI for the match against Sparta Prague amid injuries to the likes of Ryan Kent.

Wright, 24, came off the bench for the final 15 minutes in the 1-0 win over Dundee at the weekend and got half an hour against Lyon in the Ibrox side’s 2-0 Europa League Group A opening day defeat.

The ex-Aberdeen star has been used almost exclusively from the bench but Wright did start for Rangers in the Ibrox side’s 2-1 Champions League qualifying defeat to Malmo in Sweden.

With the Gers taking on Sparta Prague this evening Steven Gerrard has some big decisions to make regarding the forward line.

Colombian firebrand Alfredo Morelos is likely to play, whilst Kemar Roofe and Ianis Hagi joined the club’s talismanic forward in the front three against Dundee.

With the club playing a side that they clearly respect, the Gers may opt for a more conservative approach and take Roofe out and play with only one recognised striker.

Rangers face selection dilemma in Prague

If the Gers do so – as they have done on the road in Europe in the past – then Wright will surely come into contention amid the absence of Ryan Kent.

Kent – who is amongst the first names on the teamsheet in matches like this – has been ruled out until after the international break with a hamstring injury.

If Scott Wright does get the nod, then it could be a potentially huge night for the ex-Dons star as he will be expected to carry the side up the pitch and be an out-ball for counter attacks.

Stranger things have happened and we’ve already seen the winger pitched in for big European games this season.

Meanwhile, Rangers have been rocked by the news that a key player for the side hasn’t travelled to the Czech Republic with the Gers set to play a makeshift defence as a result.
