Rangers fans will be thrilled by 'totally unique' announcement - Maguire

Rangers fans’ will be “more than happy” to see their money reinvested in the club under the latest funding initiative at Ibrox.

That is according to finance guru and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively after the club announced a new partnership with Fantastic Fanatics on 10th June.

The rewards-based platform generates commission for Rangers when supporters make certain purchases through club-associated retailers.

Commercial director James Bisgrove claimed the scheme will enhance supporters’ shopping experience as well as ensuring a “commercial return directly to the club.”

The scheme will run alongside the MyGers programme which allows fans to invest directly in the transfer budget.

Maguire claimed that the nature of the partnership highlights the “incredible devotion” of the Rangers fanbase.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “I think it shows the totally unique nature of football within modern society.

“It also shows the incredible devotion of the Rangers fanbase. They’ll be more than happy with this because they see it as reinvesting in the team they love.

“They’ve been enjoying the ’55 and now they want to take the next step. It would be fantastic for them to win the Scottish Premiership in their 150th year which is coming up this season.

“There will be no downside or moaning from the fans if they see this money reinvested into the budget for Steven Gerrard.”

Rangers’ fixtures for the 2020-21 campaign were released last week.

Gerrard’s side will begin their title defence at home to Livingston on 31st July.
