Rangers enquire about out of contract German starlet Salih Ozcan

Rangers have lodged an interest in Germany Under-21 star Salih Ozcan, whose contract with 1.FC Koln is set to expire at the end of June.

Steven Gerrard is desperate to continue adding to his squad following the capture of forward Fashion Sakala - and the Gers boss is now looking towards young central midfielder Ozcan.

Ozcan spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan in the second tier at Holstein Kiel before making 28 appearances for Koln in the Bundesliga last season.

The Ibrox side know they could lose some star players in the summer transfer window if Premier League clubs pounce, and, according to Germany's reputed football magazine Kicker, they view Ozcan as an ideal addition.

However, it's believed the Scottish Premiership champions are in no rush to make a move for the 23-year-old and they may wait to see how the transfer market develops.

Ozcan is in action at this summer’s European Under-21 Championship and is keen to use the opportunity to put himself in the shop window.

Rangers have already started doing their homework on the midfielder, and it's believed they have already made enquiries.

The midfielder has made a total of 94 appearances at senior level for Koln, scoring twice and providing six assists, while he has been capped from Under-15 to Under-21 level by Germany.
