Fresh Kent claim
Leeds United were interested in a move for Rangers winger Ryan Kent but were deterred by his price tag this summer.
That's according to the Athletic, who claim Steven Gerrard's side were holding out for £20m for the former Liverpool prospect.
Athletic writer Phil Hay told his podcast: "The summer as a whole depicts pretty well as the transfer window is masses of moving parts. This all relates to the way Bielsa looks at transfers and valuations.
“They’ve looked at Ryan Kent in multiple windows now. I don’t honestly think they would have done Ryan Kent because I don’t think they liked the valuation of him up at Rangers.”
James needs to step up
Dan James should flourish away from the spotlight at Manchester United but now needs to repay Marcelo Bielsa's longstanding faith.
That's the view of Alex McLeish, who told Football Insider: “It’s hard to fulfil expectation levels at a club like Manchester United for some young players.
“If they drop a level of stature of club, Leeds fans forgive me but Man United are a world recognised club.
“He needs to go somewhere where he really has total belief in himself. Bielsa seems to have a thing about him and therefore he’s going to get more game time.
“He’s going to play more regularly and it could be something lifted, a shadow lifted from him.
“He didn’t quite nail down the Man United position. The people he has to fight against in terms of getting a position are world-class players.
"Now Bielsa’s finally got him. He’s shown a bit of faith in the player himself and now he has to show why Bielsa chose him.”
