Steven Gerrard will want new players signed in time for the beginning of Rangers’ pre-season, claims the club’s former defender Michael Ball.

The Gers have already signed Fashion Sakala and Nnamdi Ofoborh on free transfers from KV Oostende and Bournemouth respectively, adding to a squad that has the task of defending the Scottish Premiership title this forthcoming season.

Rangers, of course, finished first in Scottish football’s top flight for the first time in 10 years last term, a feat they will now be looking to repeat, while Ibrox will once again be hosting European football.

Will Rangers be busy this summer?

And Ball is certain Gerrard will want new signings and as soon as possible in order for the club to reach its objectives.

“Rangers will, as the previous years, want the signings done and dusted,” the ex-Rangers full-back exclusively told TT.

“When they walk in the door, no matter who comes to that football club, they’ll have to get into Steven’s mentality, how he wants to play. And he’ll want the new boys in for the first day of pre-season and it’s up to Ross Wilson to make those deals happen.”

As well as Wilson and the club bringing in new names, it is also essential that key players are retained.

Ryan Kent, for example, who played a big part in Rangers’ title success, continues to be linked with a move to Leeds United.
